York, PA at a Glance
Pennsylvania's manufacturer
center, York bills itself as the Factory Tour Capital of the United
States. Among the companies based in York that offer tours of their facilities
are Harley-Davidson
motorcycles, several candy manufacturers, and the York
Barbell company. York Barbells also sponsors the Weightlifting
Hall of Fame, which is located next to their factory. York's other major claim
to fame is as one of the nine capital cities of the United States, having been
home to the Continental Congress for a period of approximately one year during
the Revolutionary War. During this period, the first Articles of Confederation
for the United States were adopted here. History buffs can stroll around the city's
many famous landmarks and historically significant buildings, such as the Bonham
House and the York
County Colonial Complex, which date back to the early 18th Century.
